The staff and pupils at Beaulieu Primary believe there is a real and urgent need to change the way we live to protect the environment.
Our vision includes a whole school approach to create a sustainable action plan. We aim to enhance awareness and involvement in all aspects of sustainability. The children are the driving force behind all our environmental work and have been so for the past five years.
Our pupils leave our school with enthusiasm and awareness to continue to promote environmental activities.
Our Eco-Committee pupil members are drawn from Reception to Year 6. Each representative is chosen by her class or year group via a nomination/election process.
The committee meets once a week to discuss progress with Eco projects. Minutes are kept of all meetings.
The minutes of meetings are displayed on the Eco notice board in the School.
Progress with the School's Eco projects is reported on the School notice board, in newsletters and sometimes in the local press.
Pupils have used School assemblies, the School's notice board, poster campaigns and displays to raise awareness of Eco activities.
Competitions (e.g. the mural design project, the Eco code) and surveys (e.g. travel plans) are used to gather views and ideas from pupils.
We have recently developed our outside gardening areas and will continue to work hard in this area.
